Festival Week – Finale @ Carly’z Corner

The fifth and final festival that is featured is the “Tall Ships Festival“.  This festival gives maritime novelists an up close look at 10-12 replica of historic ships that once sailed the Great Lakes. ” The festival will showcase the diverse  Great Lakes maritime history spotlighting environmental themes while promoting youth leadership through sail training YESS (Youth Empowered to Succeed Through Sailing)”, states their official website.

If you have never experienced this  festival, it is a must see!  The Parade of Sails is majestic, breath taking and it makes you feel as if you have traveled back in time.

The Schedule of Events is listed below as this festival runs from July 3 through July 7

Wednesday, July 3: Enjoy the spectacular entry of the Tall Ships under full sail as they enter Cleveland’s harbor. Opening Ceremonies will follow
the Parade of Sail (scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.) though the festival grounds will not be open to the public nor will the ships be available for boarding.
The public will be encouraged to view the Parade at Voinovich Park “free of charge.”

The Festival will begin July 4, 2013, located at the Port of
Cleveland, behind FirstEnergy Stadium, Home of the Cleveland Browns.
Thursday, July 4—Sunday, July 7: Gates open: 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.*; Ship boarding: 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.;  Private hospitality functions: 7 p.m.-9 p.m.

Tickets (Admission and ship boarding) Thursday, July 4 – Sunday, July 7 are good any day of the Festival, rain or shine: $14 Day Of; $12 Advance Sale; $11 groups of 10 or more, Seniors (65+), Rotarians, and Military;
$8 for Children 6-14 (under 5 free). These are the same prices that were offered in 2010! Go to the home page and click on Ticket Sails

Ship ramps are unable to accommodate wheelchairs; dockside viewing
only. Ship boarding hours are subject to change and lines may closed before posted time to accommodate those already in line. Hospitality functions will be held the evenings of July 4, July 5 and July 6. Please complete the “Contact
Us” form on the website for information regarding a dockside event, reserving a ship for a private sailaway (which is an extra fee),reception, etc.

Friday, July 5th is PORT OF CLEVELAND DAY and all Military service men and women in uniform will be allowed into the site “free of charge” or with a military I.D. See the website for special details about the Fourth of July!

Psst!  Children in a group of 10+ have a reduced admission of $8 plus the driver of the group along with a chaperone receive free admission.  All other adults in the group receive a reduced rate of $8, also.  So if you have a youth group, what a great way for them to see this awesome event at a deeply discounted price!
