Just Putting It Out There……Kidz Day 2014 @ Carly’z Corner

I had never heard of this “kidz” fun day festival before.  I was listening to one of my favorite radio stations, 98.1 WKDD, (an Akron Ohio radio station)  and partially heard the ad about 100 activities for kids for $3.  You know when I heard “$3” my ears perked up! Right!

The event takes place, this Saturday, July 19th from 11am – 5pm at Boettler Park in Green Ohio.  (I will try to link to this post a map giving some general directions).

Just to give you an idea of how much there is to do at this Kidz Day….there is a petting zoo, inflatable land, there is a crafting area, a kids golf course, rock wall climbing, a mobile video game theater, a kids railway and bungy bouncing!  There are all day character meet and greets and there will be special events….like a helicopter landing and visits from the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Just Putting It Out There…..$1 Cone Day @ Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream Parlor

$1 Cone Day @ Handel’s

If you love ice cream as much as I do…then you will love today’s tidbit.

I used to think that ice cream was all made the same.  However, as I have tasted Mitchell’s, Honey Hut, East Coast Custard, Minchees and Handel’s…I have come to know that they are not all the same.  Each creates a unique ice cream experience for its customers.  It really comes down to your taste buds and what you enjoy!

Each year at Handel’s they offer “$1 cone day” I do not know if it is to say thank you to their loyal customers or if it is to attract more customers!

Whatever the reason….who cares…today is that day for ice cream for $1!!!!  There is no limit on how many times you come back.  The single scoop cone, any flavor is $1 all day!

So check out the link above to see if there is a Handel’s in your neck of the woods. Go and grab a $1 cone today!!!

Free Music Concerts in July @ Carly’z Corner

I have previously blogged about our amazing Cleveland Metroparks! They are truly a vital and vibrant part of Cleveland and her  surrounding  communities.

They offer a little something for everyone…..whether you want to hike, golf, bike, interact with wildlife, dance or just take in an evening of music.  The Metroparks….has it all!

During the summer, they offer a Summer Concert Series at various parks.  I just wanted to tell you of these….as they are usually right within your community and a great way to get out and meet some of our neighbors and local musical talent.

This weekend…..Look About Lodge located at 37374 Miles Rd in Bentleyville on July 13 between 6p-8p will feature Ferguson 35   (formerly the Clear Fork Bluegrass Quartet).

This is a free event! But a $1 per person donation is  greatly appreciated.

Get out and enjoy!

Free Music Concerts for the Month of June @ Carly’z Corner

Did you know that your local county library gives many free music concerts! I have a friend who loves the sound that the ukulele makes and she has learned to play this instrument quite beautifully.

“The ukulele  sometimes abbreviated to uke, is a member of the guitar family of instruments; it generally employs four  nylon or gut strings or four courses of strings.

Ukulele1 HiRes.jpg

The ukulele originated in the 19th century as a Hawaiian interpretation of the machete, a small guitar-like instrument related to the cavaquino, timple, braguinha and the rajao taken to Hawaii by Portuguese immigrants, many from the Macaronesian Islands.  It gained great popularity elsewhere in the United States during the early 20th century, and from there spread internationally.” – Wikipedia

That brings me to this information that I found just browsing the information board at the library while waiting for my kids to finish with their free library camp @ the Independence Cuyahoga library branch:

Ukulele Sing Along With the Cleveland Jumping Fleas Tuesday, July 8, 2014 @ 7:00pm
