Rock and Roll Hall of Fame “Rock Week” @ Carlyz Corner

2015 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame events in Cleveland and Cleveland Rock Week events

Hello friends, followers, fellow bloggers….long time, no hear! I know right!  Sorry for the hiatus, but I have worked on some new adventures.  But I couldn’t let this great free event pass us by!

So when Clevelanders first received the notification that we had won the privilege to have the ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME in our city we were filled with excitement, because let’s face it, this city was built on rock and roll (cheesy huh?).  Our city would be on the map, known for something other than being “the mistake on the lake”.  However when it was announced that the annual induction ceremonies, with all the glitz and glamour, would not be held in Cleveland but in New York, and every three years in Cleveland, I felt slighted!

I have to admit though that the having the museum in our city does come with some amazing perks.  The addition of this beautiful masterpiece of architectural design to our lakefront makes Voinivich Park a draw to visitors and locals alike. The museum is always abuzz with activity!  So one those activities is……… “CLEVELAND ROCK WEEK“!

What is “Cleveland Rock Week” you ask? This year is our year to host the induction ceremony! We get the red carpet, celebrity guests and  “E” reviews!  So in honor the 2015 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction, the museum and city have come together to host a week-long celebration of music and other free activities for Cleveland fans.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s 30th Annual Induction Ceremony will take place at Cleveland’s historic Public Hall on Saturday, April 18, 2015 and be celebrated with a series of events for fans as part of Cleveland Rock Week.

WHO are the 2015 Rock Hall Performers and Presenters?

Scheduled performers include Beck, Dave Grohl, Joe Walsh, Tom Morello, John Legend, Jimmie Vaughan, Gary Clark Jr., Zac Brown, Karen O, Nate Ruess and more!

NEW 2015 Hall of Fame Inductee exhibit: Stories, rare performances and interviews, and incredible items from the 2015 class of Inductees, opens April 11. FREE EVENT OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!

Gallery Talks: The Rock Hall’s Gallery Talks give visitors an insider’s look into the stories and characters behind the treasures in the Museum. These guided tours of the Museum are your backstage pass to the Museum experience.

Free Music Concerts for the Month of June @ Carly’z Corner

Did you know that your local county library gives many free music concerts! I have a friend who loves the sound that the ukulele makes and she has learned to play this instrument quite beautifully.

“The ukulele  sometimes abbreviated to uke, is a member of the guitar family of instruments; it generally employs four  nylon or gut strings or four courses of strings.

Ukulele1 HiRes.jpg

The ukulele originated in the 19th century as a Hawaiian interpretation of the machete, a small guitar-like instrument related to the cavaquino, timple, braguinha and the rajao taken to Hawaii by Portuguese immigrants, many from the Macaronesian Islands.  It gained great popularity elsewhere in the United States during the early 20th century, and from there spread internationally.” – Wikipedia

That brings me to this information that I found just browsing the information board at the library while waiting for my kids to finish with their free library camp @ the Independence Cuyahoga library branch:
