I think that this next music venue is pretty cool! It’s called the “Larchmere PorchFest Music Festival”.
‘It is a free music festival which highlights local talent, showcases exciting living options and creates a fun and exciting atmosphere for socializing’, boasts there website.
Who Should Come
Everyone! PorchFest is a family-friendly event featuring musicians from a wide variety of genres. Discover the talent that’s in your own backyard (well… front yard in our case!)
What to Bring
You’ll be “camping out” in neighborhood front lawns for 30-40 minutes at a time, so bring chairs (those fold up in a bag chairs work perfectly) or a blanket to sit on. The Larchmere neighborhood it very walkable, but if you want to see as many bands as possible, a bike is a great idea.
What to Eat/Drink
Larchmere and Shaker Square have many restaurants to choose from (visit the Larchmere and Shaker Square websites for more information). You are welcome to bring your own cooler as well! All we ask is that you pick up any trash you may create.
Where to Go for Info
For a printed schedule & map of the day’s events, to buy merchandise or to learn more about the neighborhood stop by our Info Tent on the day of the event located at the corner of E 127th Street and Larchmere
(This information was posted on their website…www.larchmereporchfest.org)
The festival is held on June 22, 2013 from 1pm – 11pm at various front porches throughout the Larchmere neighborhood. There were 121 band submissions this year, but only 30 bands were selected to perform.
1 – 6pm Porch Performances (Throughout Neighborhood)
6 – 9pm Headliners (On E. 126th)
9 – 11pm After Parties (At Restaurants & Bars on Larchmere)
So far two headliners are set: Jah Messengers (Reggae) to take the stage at 8p-9p and We the People (Funky Rock) to take the stage from 7p-8p.
Stay tuned as I will be updating more bands and post a schedule once their site has been updated!
Happy Frrreeeee Hunting!
